KVM switch seems to cause processes to be killed

Hello,

OpenMandriva Lx 25.04 (ROME) Rolling x86_64

I have another issue.

One server I run is a machine to run these game servers for an old game that I like.

The game servers open up a text terminal which needs to be running. I run these servers using standard “wine”.

In the old Fedora that I was using, this was working just fine.

In the new installation of OM, if I switch over to the other server, using a KVM switch then switch back, all the servers seem to get killed.

I am using a HDMI KVM switch. I am wondering if some CEC crap is telling OM to kill existing processes running under my main account. Is there something I can check to see if I can fix this?

Thanks.

EDIT: Its either that or wine is crashing for some reason.

EDIT 2: I kind of had to switch back to the Fedora SSD which I saved for now, until I can figure out what is going wrong. I’m starting to think its wine crashing for some reason. It seems to happen at about the same time, so I am wondering if the user desktop session is timing out and going to something like sleep, causing the processes to die.

Here are a few ideas of things I could try. Im going to list these here incase someone can tell me if they might be worth a try.

1 Switch from Wayland to X11
2 Switch from nouveau to Nvidia-blob
3 Since the game I host is Descent 3 and it came out in the Windows 95 era, try installing wine.i686

Please see the thread on switching from Wayland to X11 without reinstalling.

You installed Wayland and got buyer's remorse

Ooops oh wait, looks like OM has not made the move to wayland just yet so thats 1 of the items off the list.

I really do not know if using an nvidia-blob would make any difference.

So that leaves just trying to add wine.i686

I’m not aware of any way in which a KVM switch could do that.

If wine is crashing, try dnf swap wine proton or dnf swap wine proton-experimental.
