Installing R pulls texlive with it

Hello,

Requirements:

I have Searched the forum for my issue and found nothing related or helpful
I have checked the Resources category (Resources Index)
I have reviewed the Wiki for relevant information
I have read the the Release Notes and Errata

OpenMandriva Lx version:

OpenMandriva Lx release 25.06 (ROME) Rolling for x86_64

Hyprland (have KDE for fallback)

when i try to: sudo dnf install R i get a Transaction summary of 1116 Packages, most of which are texlive-* with its size being 800 after installation

Relevant informations (hardware involved, software version, logs or output…):

i can post the transaction summary but i think it has no value.

R-devel is being pulled in as a dependency, which is then pulling in all of the texlive stuff. I couldn’t tell you why, but that is what is happening.

In cases like this, you need to look over what the upstream has for dependencies:

We also provide all the recipes we use to build the packages you use:

Requires: and BuildRequires: are going to provide the dependencies that will be installed.

You can also use dnf to get the list of dependencies that the package will install:

dnf repoquery --requires name_of_package_you _are_installing
