Installation failed

Hello,

  • OpenMandriva Lx version: ROME 25.01

  • Desktop environment (KDE, LXQT…): KDE Plasma

  • Description of the issue (screenshots if relevant):

Installation failed short after completing the prompts and confirming the desired partition configuration. The error message is:

    Screenshot_20250209_164449

I tried to follow the instructions found in this thread Does anyone use Ventoy to install OMLx? - #4 by ben79 but I do not have that last “LiveOS” directory.

  • Relevant informations (hardware involved, software version, logs or output…):

Current setup is Debian 12 Bookworm. The target drive partitions look like this:

I’m trying to install OMLx in the second partition, named /dev/nvme0n1p2.

The last partition is my current home directory where I have my KeePassXC password for this forum so I had to mount it temporarily to login and post here.

I found this logs in KSystemLog but I’m not sure if they are relevant:

Did you reboot and try a second time? Also, re-copy the iso onto your ventoy flash drive.

check all option in your UEFI

SecureBoot off
Fast Boot off
No CSM

all disks on AHCI

you can check in terminal

inxi -Fxza
test -d /sys/firmware/efi && echo efi || echo bios
sudo efibootmgr -v

Bad news… upon rebooting, my computer goes straight into a “minimal BASH like line editing is supported” interface. I’m on a separate computer at the moment.

I’m not sure what you mean by re-copy the ISO to the Ventoy flash drive, how would that help? I did verify the checksum when I downloaded it, so I have no reason to believe it’s corrupted in any way. If I can boot back into Debian, I will try it anyway but I’m curious.

I already tried this. This link is based on the solution from another thread, which I linked to above.

Give me a minute, see if I can boot back into Debian or OMLx live mode again…

Squashfs is to do with the usb thumb drive you are using, did you try another pen drive?

Ok, so I managed to reboot into the USB and launch OMLx again. This time, I followed @AngryPenguin’s instructions right away and I did have indeed that location at /run/initramfs/omdv/LiveOS. Before, I wasn’t aware this would be an issue and I only tried after it failed to install. I guess this must’ve removed the location.

As I’m writing this on my side computer, the installation has already finished! That’s the fastest install that I’ve ever seen!

Haven’t even started yet and already loving OMLx! Thank you everyone for your quick and helpful responses. Turns out that, once again, it was a problem between computer and chair :joy:

All right! Congratulations. Welcome to OMLx!

Yep, OMLx installs so quickly. It’s really amazing.

The first time I installed it, it was so fast, I thought it had failed.

I thought so too, I was just getting ready to furiously type how “open mandriva bad” but nope, everything is working perfectly. Thank you!
