Install issues for rome on ventoy but rock works on same ventoy

Hello,

Requirements:

I have Searched the forum for my issue and found nothing related or helpful
I have checked the Resources category (Resources Index)
I have reviewed the Wiki for relevant information
I have read the the Release Notes and Errata

OpenMandriva Lx version:

Desktop environment (KDE, LXQT…):

kde

Description of the issue (screenshots if relevant):

First off, I have been installing rome and cooker a lot and every single time it will not recognize the root password, which is set the same as the user password. Done it 4 separate times. Now after trying kubuntu which I tied in order to get AMD ROCm AI working (which failed because who knows why but possibly upgrading the system to a new kernel after install which I had to do to get the video card to work). So I wanted off kubuntu because it was uselss for that purpose and terrible for everything else so I came back and installed rock which required me to delete the whole ssd before it would let me. Unfortunately, I saw it did not have some of the packages I needed so I tried to install rome. Now I am having the same problem something like root account locked can’t get to console. I deleted the SSD but this time it did not clear it up and secure boot is disabled. I saw another user with the issue in the forums but his whole deal seemed completely different. I just want to start over. Also have a second USB stick that I reformatted so I was going to try to put the rome live image on there without ventoy but the process is kind of unclear. I installed OM-imagewriter while in live mode (only rock live is all that works). But now I click on it and it opens then disappears

Relevant informations (hardware involved, software version, logs or output…):

all right I run the om-writer from the command line and hopefully I wrote it on the right one

The newly written one seems to be working

I am using at the moment a fresh install of ROME P6 X11 x86_64 iso #4403. I booted it from a Ventoy usb flash drive as I have been doing with Cooker and ROME installs for months. I use the same password for user and root with no problems. A lot of people use the same password for first user and root, this is very common.

If you continue to have problems a few suggestions are to try a more detailed description of the problem and stick to one problem at the time not multiple issues all in the same paragraph. Also show some evidence like logs or screen shots.

So whatever the problem is with passwords should be solvable if we have enough information as to exactly, exactly, what you did.

What to do if there is a problem installing OMLx

Reset root or user password

Let’s hope that works out for you.

We don’t create hybrid ISO’s like the Debuntu’s do. There were issues with the ISO’s in the past with Ventoy, but it may have cropped back up again. Are you using the latest version of Ventoy?
