I'm sure it's me but... I can't find stow

Hello,

latest OM rome w/KDE

I want to install gnu stow. I tried dnf to search for it, but it doesn’t find it. I enabled all the repos I could (for now) just to see if it was in extra or what-not. Am I doing something wrong? I tried

dnf search stow

That comes back nothing found. I’m stumped. I even tried the GUI dnf tool. No luck.

At a first search does not look like we have that in our repos.
I’d suggest to file a Package Request providing all the required information.

@IndieMurph have you ever put in a package request? If you would like to make the attempt, I will give you a chance to do it. HINT: the first one is hard. They get easier. If not, I will put it in for you. Just say so. :grinning:

@IndieMurph Great job! I know how hard it is to gather all the info to put in the request, but that takes a big load off the maintainer that will take on the task. It’s a BIG DEAL to say the least. You also get to have a feeling of accomplishment for helping in the effort.

Thanks! I was hoping I wasn’t being too formal or wordy. I look forward to the inclusion of gnu stow if it’s approved. I’m hoping to use it for maintaining my ungoogled-chromium bookmarks across systems. Obviously, I could just build it from source, but I’d rather just get it from a package, also others might find it beneficial having it in a package as well.

It’s perfect.

I was surprised that stow was not in our repos.

Stow should be available in cooker now, I am not familiar enough with the release process to comment on when it will be available elsewhere. Though given the minimal requirements to run stow you should be able to grab the RPM directly from ABF if you are so inclined. I am not allowed to post a link though, sorry.
