I Need help with 5.1 suroundsound rome plasma slim

Hi,

I am helping a friend reinstalling his Lenovo thinkpad laptop.
I have just installed Openmandriva Rome plasma slim.

He has a 5.1 suroundsound connected through hdmi.
I can get sound from the front speaker but not the rear when I try youtube and netflix in waterfox and ungoogled chromium.
If I use the test buttons in systemsettings the voice sounds in the rear speakers.

Is there someone who can help me with this?

Thanks.

EDIT

It works fine in smplayer.
Why not web browser?

I really hope someone can help me.
It would really be appreciated.

You are probably going to have to look around in a search engine about how to configure 5.1 surround with pipewire based on your current setup. Since none of the support template was used and you did not provide any other information, we can’t really help you.

Which browser are you using?
Have you tried on different browsers?

That was pretty dumb of me. It sounds to me like its working on the system, but not from the browsers. There used to be flags or config settings in blink and gecko browsers respectively, but they seem to be deprecated. I have a simple vanilla system with just stereo, so I can’t help. I wish the OP luck.

I have tried ungoogled chromium that comes with rome plasma slim and waterfix.
I have not tried anyone else. I will perhaps try firedragon.
I wont try firefox because firefox that can sell your data.
I perhaps will try brave but it often have glitches when gpu acceleration is turned on. When it’s turned off it usally is unusable because I often work with older hardware.

But it will be later today. It is in the middle of the night (02:43/2:43 am) and I am home right now.

Okay. Thanks anyway.
I hope someone else can help.
Otherwise I will have to troubleshoot one step at the time.

Have a great day/night.

You need to read the following and provide more information or this will be moved out of Support to Coffee break

There often isn’t a single type of config, setting, or button that solves the situation for every single person. It doesn’t matter if the distribution is OpenMandriva or anything else. They are going to ask you to post things needed to assist you properly.

I will post whaterver is necessary to get it working.

Which terminal outputs do you need?
If you could be so kind to help me with that so will I post them later today.

I’ve asked someone that had a similar issue to add to this post when next available.

Keep in mind stereo sources will only be reproduced from the front left and right speakers unless you enable upmix, for example this is my config section:

stream.properties = {
    channelmix.lfe-cutoff = 120
    channelmix.fc-cutoff  = 26000
    channelmix.rear-delay = 0
    channelmix.upmix = true
    channelmix.upmix-method = simple
}

Which resides in:

~/.config/pipewire/client.conf.d/channelmix.conf
~/.config/pipewire/client-rt.conf.d/channelmix.conf
~/.config/pipewire/pipewire-pulse.conf.d/channelmix.conf

For a proper 5.1 test source in your browser please see:
