I would like to know is it possible to install messenger for desktop on openmandriva
What is messenger?
You can install it but it won’t open because of a dependency.
$ messengerfordesktop messengerfordesktop: error while loading shared libraries: libgconf-2.so.4: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
If anyone wants this fixed or to this packaged for OpenMandriva you’ll need to file a bug report. I’m not filing a bug report for anything to do with Facebook. Not my thing.
messenger for desktop for facebook messages
Messenger for Desktop is not maintainded anymore. Last git commit was done almost two years ago and repo is now read-only (as archive only).
But there is nice alternative (replacement) for it, called Caprine for Windows, macos and Linux based on electron.
You can download it as appimage here: https://github.com/sindresorhus/caprine/releases/download/v2.44.0/Caprine-2.44.0.AppImage
Download it, next make it executable (chmod +x) and launch. Works fine.
Also here is more info about it and download button with always update version: Caprine
got it thanks Angry
