I have put on a language request for greek translation on transifex. However, there are at least 2 different codes (el) and (el_GR)
Apparently, el_GR refers to ISO 3166-1 which means it is used to identify Language + Greece region, meanwhile el refers to ISO 639-1 referencing only the language.
Which one to use? I would understand that it makes sense to have region-independent languages format but then again it may work only for small groups like Greek as in this case. I have seen in another post that it is requested to use to just (pl) in the case of Polish.
Would it make sense to make a guide in wiki for future reference ?
For convenience in om-welcome, repo-picker and indexhtml we use the simple code (el, it, fr, pl etc.) unless we need/want to differenciate the region (?) like for pt_PT and pt_BR
If I remember correctly, dnfdrake uses the extended code as it identifies the system language from some_file (will be more precise soon).
The wiki translations engine is a bit more complex, so I’m not sure and I can’t really go deeply into it ATM.
Probably yes, if there isn’t already anything somewhere there at the wiki or here at the forum. I’ll check as soon as possible.
There are duplicate entries in the OpenMandriva Wiki project in Transifex. Should we assume that the latest and referenced files from GitHub are to be translated, right?
