Requirements:

Dopo una nuova installazione di Rome (ISO 4418) non riesco a installare Google Earth

I have Searched the forum for my issue and found nothing related or helpful
I have checked the Resources category (Resources Index)
I have reviewed the Wiki for relevant information
I have read the the Release Notes and Errata

OpenMandriva Lx version:

Rome 26.02 Wayland

Desktop environment (KDE, LXQT…):

Plasma 6

This is probably due to the fact that recent versions of rpm (the package manager behind DNF) have tightened security checks: “no digest” indicates that the Google Earth package does not include a header hash (digest) compatible with the new security standards of OpenMandriva Rome.

Unable to verify the integrity of the package according to current criteria, the system refuses to install it.

How to fix it

You can force the installation by bypassing the digest check in two ways:

  1. Using --nogpgcheck

sudo dnf install --nogpgcheck ./google-earth-pro-stable-current.x86_64.rpm

  1. Use the rpm command directly

If DNF continues to crash, you can use the rpm command below, which allows for more granular control and often ignores missing digests when instructed correctly:

sudo rpm -i --nodigest --nosignature google-earth-pro-stable-current.x86_64.rpm

–nodigest: Skip the package digest check (essential in this case).

See if one of these methods works

Note on Wayland and Plasma 6

Keep in mind that Google Earth Pro is an older application that uses Qt5 and X11 libraries.

If you experience flickering or the app fails to start, try launching it by forcing the use of XWayland:

QT_QPA_PLATFORM=xcb google-earth-pro

Alternatively, consider using the web version (via a browser) or the Flatpak version, which usually handles isolated dependencies better.

Grazie per i suggerimenti… ma purtroppo non funzionano… Userò la versione web, no problem.

Strano, a me si è installato.
Comunque volendo c’è anche la versione FlatPak,

La cosa “curiosa” è che dopo questo tentativo Google Earth risulta installato… mas se lo lancio non parte, Da consolle dà questo errore:

Ultima “curiosità”: Ho provato a installare lo stesso file rpm su PcLinuxOs, con plasma 6.6… è andato su, ha segnalato lo stesso errore “no digest” ma si è installato e funziona :open_mouth:

anche a me installazione “strana” ma parte anche su OM Rome.

POtrebbe dipendere dalla tua particolare combinazione HS/SW …

Che hardware hai?
