Former Mandrake User

I was probably gonna hold my nose and install LMDE until Lunduke’s video reminding me of your existence. Finally a place where merit and common sense reign supreme.

I installed Rome, everything’s been great for a couple weeks until today it refuses to see my access point and now I gotta post this from win10. *sigh

I used to help run an eggdrop net on efnet back in ancient times to protect the #mandrake channel. I’d never consider myself a Linux expert but advanced maybe in the old ways. I started back when we wrote our own .x11 config files by hand with a CRT spec sheet handy. I prefer console to gui for most things.

Welcome. Sorry to hear about the AP. If you want to create a topic in Support for it, we can certainly help you there, or we have a matrix chat. There is also a telegram room bridged to matrix, but the bridge can be slow.

I was waiting on this day

I just got a new gaming laptop, an Asus TUF 16 - Ryzen 7 with Radeon 7700s 64 Gigarams
It came pre-loaded with win11-pro but I nuked windows first thing, this machine has never loaded M$ crud

Rome installed without a hitch and runs so nice. Yeah baby!

This is how it’s going:

Installed Starfield via Proton and it went flawlessly. All I had to do was set quality to Ultra instead of low.

My goodness, is that a screenshot from a modern game? It’s amazing. I haven’t done any gaming in 10 years, so my memory is stuck in 2014-2015’s graphics. That screenshot is truly stunning to me.
