First run of Plasma on new kernel fails

Hello,

  • OpenMandriva Lx version:
    Any new kernel installation

  • Desktop environment (KDE, LXQT…):
    Plasma

  • Description of the issue (screenshots if relevant):
    This happens quite consistently on this laptop: each time a new kernel ins installed this occurs: the basic kernel boots OK, but when X-Plasma should start, the screen goes black and remains so, and I see no disk activity.
    So power off, reboot, choose console mode, that completes, log in, give the “startx” command and all goes well. On subsequent boots then i can again take the normal boot, and the problem does not reappear.
    I guess this is the 5th or 6th new kernel I got, and this happened all the time, apart from the 6.14. debacle.

    Laptop Compaq H000SB
    Processor: dual AMD E1-2100 APU with Radeon HD Graphics
    Videocard listed as Kabini Radeon HD 8210
    8 GB RAM
