Firefox version question

Hello, I just installed rome and firefox. I see it’s version 147.01? I thought the rolling release would give me the latest firefox version. I installed it from the dnf drake unless there is another better option.

thx

ROME receives updates only when the entire Cooker repository is ready to clone. This is done anywhere from every few days to once every couple of months. Currently the ROME repos are a month or two behind the Cooker repos. If you absolutely need the latest version now I suggest installing the flatpak version.

You can switch to cooker repos, but you will need to get in contact with the development team to make sure it is safe to update your system. Updating while we are in the middle of building a large chain of vital packages can leave you with a messy system.

ok. Am I still getting security updates in the mean time or is everything on hold?

I did not see any option to choose any other version of firefox in the dnf drake. Is there a better way to search for and install software?

I thought ROME was a rolling release. Maybe I’m not understanding versions correctly

Security updates are backported to ROME and Rock as needed.

dnfdrake is a gui frontend for the `dnf` package manager, you can use dnf from the terminal if you like. Flatpak is a distro agnostic package manager. You can `sudo dnf in flatpak` and then search for software with`flatpak search` or use a gui frontend like flatdrake.

ROME is semi-rolling. It is not constantly receiving updates like Arch, but it doesn’t wait for a set date like Ubuntu or Debian.
