Falkon fails to load up after update

OpenMandriva Lx version: -

Rome (newest)

Desktop environment (KDE, LXQT…):

LXQT

Falkon fails to load after latest update to kernel 6.14.2-desktop-3omv2590.
I tried to load program from terminal as well but it rendered a segmentation fault error

Could you please tell us what version of Falkon you are referring to, why you think this has to do with a new kernel version, and if Falkon works with an older kernel.

Falkon version is 25.04.0-1, I do not know if it is because of the updated kernel. I doubt it, probably a problem within falkon itself. It did work with the older 6.14.2 om2 kernel.

This is a graphics driver problem – “GBM is not supported” means “the graphics driver failed to allocate GPU memory”
It is unrelated to the kernel (which doesn’t have any changes except updating VirtualBox modules). The problem is something in the graphics stack not doing its job properly.
If you haven’t updated the box for a while (and just got the Qt 6.9 update now), that could be what exposes it (QtWebEngine - the rendering engine used by falkon - no longer supports software rendering).

I update daily so that is not the issue. I am using a duel Nvidia/Amd laptop.

FWIW: I just dsynced a ROME LXQt (VBox VM) system and falkon-25.04.0-1 is working there.

So It probably has to do with with my dual graphics on my machine. Good to know at least.

I can sudo into falkon and it works, but the hyperlink and starting falkon without sudo fails to work in terminal.

Run a browser as root is not really what you want…

I know. I never run a gui as root, but had to try and see if it works.

I also had this problem. When hardware acceleration is disabled, Falcon boots normally. You have to change it manually in the .ini file in ~/.config/falkon/profiles/default/.
It works for me.

Hardware accel. was already set to false
