Error 404 during metadata download for repository 'rolling-x86_64'

Hello,

OpenMandriva Lx version:
23.11 ROME (Rolling)

Desktop environment (KDE, LXQT…):
KDE Plasma 5.27.9 (I am still using Plasma 5 due to pending updates)

Description of the issue (screenshots if relevant):
I am experiencing an issue when trying to update my system using DNF. When I run the command:

LC_ALL=C sudo dnf --refresh --allowerasing distro-sync

it provides the following output

OpenMandriva Rolling - x86_64 16 B/s | 10 B 00:00

Prior to this, I ran the following commands to clean the cache and update the repository list:

LC_ALL=C sudo dnf clean all && LC_ALL=C dnf clean all && LC_ALL=C dnf repolist

The output was:

  • I am using DNF for updates as recommended in the OpenMandriva release notes and avoiding graphical tools like Discover or dnfdragora.
  • My system is connected to the internet, and there have been no issues with connectivity during the update process.
  • I have ensured that I am not mixing repositories from different release versions or update channels, following the guidelines to use only Rolling repositories for my system.

I am providing the output of omdv-bug-report.sh for further details. (external link here at Renater File Sender)

Thank you for your assistance.

Raphael

We’ll see this later.
ATM the problem is

I’d start with excluding issue regarding mirrors, so:
download and install om-mirror-selector if you don’t have it
om-mirror-selector-0.1.3-1-omv2490.noarch.rpm

run
sudo om-mirror-selector.sh -m
select your preferred mirror, or abf

$ sudo dnf clean all;dnf clean all;dnf repolist
$ sudo dnf --refresh --allowerasing distro-sync

And see if you get repolist/metadata updated.

Of course you may want to abort transaction at this point, if the output is correctly verbose.

I am using VPN set to server in US and this shows I am using ibiblio.org. FWIW: I updated 2 hardware and 3 virtual ROME/rolling machines earlier today and did not see the 404 error.

So this may be what we were talking about this week. @rugyada suggestion would be a great way to track down if some mirror in Europe is misbehaving. If that does not produce results I may have other idea. To me this error points to something at either http://mirror.openmandriva.org or http://abf-downloads.openmandriva.org.

Hi @rugyada , thanks for the indication, I notice something weird: it seems to try to download cooker/rolling instead of just rolling

I wonder why is cooker mentioned in the URL, checking my configuration with om-repo-picker :

[raphael@libellule ~]$ dnf repolist enabled

Something seems broken with my base urls

Good idea, I‘ll do this once my issue is fixed

From your paste I think you have the older om-mirror-selector.
Download the new version (the cooker version works in rolling too) and upgrade it.

That’s the point of this test

@raphael This is an unadulterated /etc/yum.repos.d/openmandriva-rolling-x86_64.repo file.

openmandriva-rolling-x86_64.repo.txt (8.4 KB)

Just in case.

It seems that the new version of om-mirror-selector has fixed the issue, I’m waiting for the distro-sync to finish to confirm that all went well.

Expected

You may want to save the log.

The download went well, however the installation itself is stopped:

I’m afraid that for what concerns the upgrade issue you should start a new discussion.
Please run
sudo dnf clean all;dnf clean all
sudo dnf --refresh --allowerasing distro-sync 2>&1|tee rome-dsync.log
and provide the rome-dsync.log just created as attachment in the new thread.
