Elevating OpenMandriva: Guide to installing Minecraft: "Better than Adventure!"

Context

As a content creator, one of my centers of focus is on the Minecraft mod Better than Adventure!. I’ve had the pleasure of exploring the depths of this captivating game and showing it to people around the world on my channel via LBRY/Odysee, and that other video site. I’ve made it a priority to ensure that OpenMandriva Lx users receive the attention they deserve in my content.

What is Better than Adventure!?

Better than Adventure! is a remarkable Minecraft mod that takes the established core gameplay to new heights. It’s essentially the Minecraft you knew before the Adventure Update took the game in direction that was far removed from the original. Imagine if the Minecraft from Beta 1.7.3 had continued its development, and that’s exactly what Better than Adventure! offers.

Polish: An OpenMandriva value

The guide I’ve created is designed to make the installation process for Better than Adventure! on OpenMandriva Lx as smooth and effortless as possible. I’ve put in the time and effort to ensure that the instructions are comprehensive, easy to follow, and tailored specifically for OpenMandriva Lx users, providing them with a first-class experience.

Positioning OpenMandriva Lx as a first-class citizen

By placing OpenMandriva Lx at the forefront of this guide, I aim to raise natural curiosity and awareness for the distribution without resorting to a heavy-handed sales pitch. I believe that when we approach this in a genuine, non-performative way, we can effectively showcase the value that OpenMandriva Lx brings to the table.

idk if it is the right thread to talk about that but right now I’m using the PolyMC and a lot of people seem to say that I should switch and never use PolyMC

Is there any reason for me to actually stop using PolyMC ?

Relevant saga on the discussion page of the Installing Better than Adventure! wiki page article I (primarily) wrote:

Shouldn’t PolyMC be removed considering the whole drama that happened a few years ago (creator’s anti-lgbt rhetoric and it being potentially compromised)? Dianaisnthere (talk) 21:39, 8 July 2025 (UTC)

PolyMC is a well-established and widely used Minecraft launcher that provides a number of beneficial features for players. The claim that PolyMC is insecure is largely based on a project takeover and subsequent controversy, not on evidence of malware or compromised code. The project was taken over by its lead developer, LennyMcLennington, after disagreements with other contributors, who were subsequently removed from the project. While some sources argue this constituted a “compromise” because the project is now controlled by a single individual, the project has never been found to contain malicious code. The security of PolyMC relies on its open-source nature, which allows anyone to audit the code for potential issues.
Outright removal based solely on someone’s political views/preferences is overly reactionary and would harm the helpful application via this wiki. As stated within rule #5 of the Discord server:
#5. Avoid political/sensitive discussion. Keep conversation light-hearted. It’s a block-game server.”
I would advise the same here. Wolfdaemon (talk) 02:52, 7 September 2025 (UTC)
