Dropbox does not open OpenMandriva LX

When I launch DropBox from command line I get the following error:

File “/usr/bin/dropbox”, line 232
except OSError, e:
^
SyntaxError: invalid syntax

After some web research, it seems it might be a python issue. I know exactly nothing about python so I’m taking the web’s word for it.

I installed Dropbox from the package manager and hit the icon but nothing happened. I then ran it from the command line and got the aforementioned error.

I’ve run the OMV bug report tool and have that should it be necessary. If any further information is needed, please let me know.

Any help would be appreciated.

many problems affect dropbox in Lx 3.0 :frowning:

take a look here:

and try this workaround

$ XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP= dbus-launch ~/.dropbox-dist/dropboxd

Please confirm the bugreport.

p.s.: dropbox from package manager is buggy as uses python3 while need python2. also pygtk2.0 is not installed.

Followed your instructions and it is now working. I confirmed the bugreport as well.

Thanks for the help. It’s sad to say but I can’t even think about running an OS without Dropbox.

I use dropbox to work and it must operate.
