I prefer kgx instad of gnome-terminal. So in the software center, I simply searched for gnome terminal and removed it. And in the process, it pretty much removed every gnome package in its wake.

What you mean software center?
Probably is referring to Discovery?
I bet so but wish to be sure.
Gnome doesn’t have Discover. At least not the last time I looked.

If users remove the package using the console they can see that something is wrong with this transaction.
@RedCardinal is the damage done already or you aborted the removal?
This happen because we use “task” packages. This simplify packaging process and allow create iso without messing with dependencies.
To remove it you need first remove package called task-gnome-minimal
Try
sudo rpm -e --nodeps task-gnome-minimal
Then, you should be able to remove terminal without messing with deps.
