Hello,
OpenMandriva Lx version:
Rock latest release
Desktop environment (KDE, LXQT…):
KDE
Description of the issue (screenshots if relevant):
Trying to use Crossover and it is telling me that it needs VTE 2-91, which doesn’t appear to be in the repos.
Relevant informations (hardware involved, software version, logs or output…):
I am just curious if anyone is able to use Crossover on Openmandriva? Thanks!
dnf search does not show either crossover or vte291 in repos. So probably not. I know we have wine but I think devs are suggesting something called proton for running windows ____. I do not know myself as I do not use any of that.
Is it possible that the vte package needed is named differently in OM?
$ dnf search vte

I got the rpm for crossover from the codeweaver website. It is packaged for rpm (so dnf, yum, etc.).
vte291 (vte-2-91) is a dependency it has, and this is why I am looking for it. It doesn’t seem to be in the repo, and I guess I am just asking here if anyone has had and dealt with this issue? I am wondering if maybe I switched to the rolling repo (Rome) if this would then be present there?
Not under that name. There may be a package with a different name in OM repos that will work. My guess would be vte but I am not a developer. Nor do I know the best way to get a package with a different name to work with 3rd party software. Developers are the people to answer these question.
If you don’t find what you are looking for, try an Internet search. One can find out a lot from documentation or forum posts at other Linux distros. If user finds something written for another distro but you have some doubt ask at OpenMandriva Chat.
For serious technical issues and package/feature requests please file a bug report here.
Note: We are a small group. All the contributors and developers here are unpaid volunteers.
You can make OpenMandriva grow and improve by getting involved
Any help with testing would be appreciated whether one is technically proficient or a very non-technical user. The more people and more hardware we can get involved the better we can make OMLx releases and packaging. We do a lot of testing in VM’s as well. Developers tend to use Qemu, most user level testers use VirtualBox.
Looking at the “291”/“2-91” name, I’d guess the package you’re looking for is lib64vte2.91_0

Thanks my good sir! I have it installed and crossover is still complaining about needing vte291. I will try a restart to see if that does anything, but if not I will just keep working on it.
For any who are interested, the crossover downloads have a 14 day trail by default, so you can mess around to see if you can get it working.

So I was able to figure this out. Basically the file in question IS available in the repos:
