Codecs cannot be installed

Hello,

I have been trying to install the codecs provided by OM-Welcome for a few days now.
They couldn’t be installed and after trying to install its packages all together i have found the error.
Certain libraries are not provided for install thus the install always fails.
I have made this issue over on github as will be linked to at the end of the post.

  • OpenMandriva Lx version:
    ROME

  • Desktop environment (KDE, LXQT…):
    KDE

  • Description of the issue (screenshots if relevant):
Codecs cannot be installed thanks to the following error described bellow and above.

  • Relevant informations (hardware involved, software version, logs or output…):
Latest Distro Sync, Laptop Samsung NP300E5M with no modified hardware aside from having a sata SSD instead of an HDD.

Output of Dnfdrake install:

Github Issue 2928:

You will find a convenient shortcut in OM Welcome

If you carefully read my post you will find that that route has been tried, but as it is nothing more than a fancy script to do the manual job the dnfdrake bug report still stands. The codecs cannot be installed, put simply. (Deleted the other post in order to put a proper reply but it did basically read the same as this.)

Yes I misunderstood the first line.

I can confirm, running om-welcome from console I can see the output with failed transaction.
It will be reported to devs. May need just a rebuild.

The issue is working on. Meanwhile you can install all the codecs except x264

faac flac lib64xvid4 lib64dca0 x265 lib64dvdcss2 qt-heif-image-plugin heifthumbnailer

Thanks for that, got to install everything except x264 just like you said, which is a huge help already.

You can install the cooker fixed package in ROME

sudo dnf install --enablerepo=cooker-x86_64-restricted x264

My log:
x264.txt (4,3 KB)

Won’t it cause problems with the distrosync under ROME?

EDIT: Read the message in the github issue and it seems to be a one time things, thanks!

Will still do it, but that’s my concern

Sure

I posted my concern on closing, if any of the mods or devs feel that this solves the bug in a more permanent manner then feel free to close the issue and put your last post as a solution.

I have labeled it as solved in cooker. For ROME is not solved yet but will become with next major upgrade.

No.

Try it and see. If there is any problem there would be an error message so no harm would be done.
