Hello,
- OpenMandriva Lx version:
Cooker & ROME
- Desktop environment (KDE, LXQT…):
ALL
- Description of the issue (screenshots if relevant):
It is now necessary to remove kernel modules using root password to start VirtualBox. On my laptop with AMD hardware it works like this:
-
Enter root password to remove
kvm_amd
using command/usr/bin/rmmod
-
Enter root password to remove
kvm
using command/usr/bin/rmmod
VirtualBox opens and runs as normal
Example of running VirtualMachine in VirtualBox
- Relevant informations (hardware involved, software version, logs or output…):
If you have Intel hardware instead of AMD it will instead remove kvm_intel
in the first step.
Edit: As far as I know the only thing that uses these kernel modules is virtualization software. So unless you are also using Qemu or Gnome Boxes at the same time as using VirtualBox I do not think this is likely to affect anything. There may be some users that need kvm
modules for something else, not sure about that.
