Description of the issue (screenshots if relevant):
Relevant information (hardware involved, software version, logs or output…): When I attempt to install Rock on my ASUS P5KPL-CM with an Intel Core2 Quad cpu, built-in graphics and 4 GB ram it simply stops with no error messages. This rig currently has Windows 7 32 bit installed and the manual says it supports 32 and 64 bit Windows so it ought to work with OpenMandriva.
I tried Troubleshooting during install and I was able to get to a command line prompt. Not sure what to do from there.
When in doubt, read the documentation. (Imperfect documentation is still likely to be useful.)
If nothing else it would be helpful to know at what point your installation stops. Even better would be to be able to read any error message. That is what the calamares-installation-log.txt could help us with.
@kenj76 it might be wise to read these before trying to install again:
Maybe you did that but we find that a lot of users don’t.
The first thing we want to address when a user has an installation problem like this is"
How did you download the .iso?
Did you check the checksums?
How did you copy the .iso to installation media, usually a usb flash drive?
There is information about all of that and more here. Particularly:
If user downloaded the .iso using a browser it might be worth downloading in terminal (Konsole). How user copies the .iso to a usb flash drive matters not just any old way works. Even when checksums match it is still possible that there is some small thing corrupted in downloading or copying of the .iso file. It is rare but it does happen.
Thanks for the welcome messages and helpful instructions.
I have been building my own desktop PCs since 1986 and, being ‘long in the tooth’ I have finally remembered that my ASUS motherboard only supports a 32 bit OS. Doh! Sorry for taking up your time. I will have to find another rig (64 bit).
I first tried Mandrake Linux in the early two thousands. Looks like you have a vital community here. Heard about you from Lunduke.
