Can't install fundamental libraries?

Hello,

  • OpenMandriva Lx version:
    5.0

  • Desktop environment (KDE, LXQT…):
    XFCE, WindowMaker

  • Description of the issue (screenshots if relevant):
using dnfdragora, I’m trying to install packages to OpenMandriva, and I keep getting dependency issue after dependency issue.
I can maybe see how something as esoteric as ‘screen’ might not be supported… but how can I not be able to install samba-server?? I can’t install xsane gimp support. I can’t install the marathon game because alephone is missing.

  • Relevant informations (hardware involved, software version, logs or output…):
system is intel i7 quad-core 3.4mhz, 16gb ram, 2tb hd, integrated intel gpu.

Problem: package samba-server-4.20.4-2.x86_64 from rolling-x86_64 requires group(adm), but none of the providers can be installed

Do you recognize how this might not be the best way to ask someone for help? By the way, screen is supported:

dnf list screen
Last metadata expiration check: 0:00:10 ago on Sun 26 Jan 2025 04:01:03 PM EST.
Available Packages
screen.x86_64

Try the following command and see if you still get the error:

sudo dnf in samba-server --refresh --allowerasing

dnfdragora is good for some situations but I wouldn’t rely on it. Until we can find (or make) a front end that handles the way we use dnf, your best bet is the terminal. We would also appreciate a more relevant title so people can search and find issues like this and their solutions.

Thank you.

sure, but I solved my problem on my own.
I reinstalled OpenBSD which allowed me to install XFCE right off the bat with no problems.
Problem solved.
You all have a nice day

This looks like you’re trying to install packages from rolling or cooker on rock (5.0).
