Yes.
I always install in English. Some few times I install using Italian just to provide explicative screenshots to Italian users, or to check translation.

Ok. Let’s close this non-issue.
If you and the other fellows say that’s ok, then it’s ok. I’m very happy for this
Ok rugyada I have tested in French on the Open Source VirtualBox and it’s OK here. It would be good if we could get an omv-bug-report from the French guy then we can compare logs to check wehether there is a common hardware issue. I’ll make it down as a local issue for the time being but I think we should try to get to the bottom of it just the same.
At any rate I was able to someway workaround my local issue, in fact I could enter my desktop, test a good number of applications, take screenshots for the blog post (already uploaded) and so on.
So, I hope it’s clear, I wanted only report the facts occurred. Not really asking for any (even if very valuable and appreciated) help to solve my own problem. I did already
Rugyada I need to add something to the blog post about the nouveau driver unless it’s already done. We need to say something about the nouveau graphics driver.
We need to add this if it’s not already there.
Note: If you are using NVidia graphics hardware please be aware that there is an unresolved issue with the nouveau xserver driver the issue is unresolved across all distros. It shows itself as a intermittant desktop lockup. A workaround is to switch VT’s by using the ctrl+alt+F2 combination and then switching back to the desktop by pressing alt+ctrl+F1 which is then unfrozen. If you wish to avoid this bug until a fix is found please use the proprietry NVidiea driver which can be installed via the control centre. An update will be issued when the bug is resolved upstream.
Could you come onto irc so we can sort out a few last details then I’m going to release. I don’t know who does the social media stuff is it Kate?
I am on NVidia and nouveau works fine her using the 720 perhaps we just release 720 and do the i586 later
I will advise once I have got hold of Raph but we are running out of time. I have about 45 mins before I must go and sing in the choir.
I know, I know… but I don’t develop and I have no server working on my system. So, what does x86.64 brings me apart of using more RAM ?
More speed, more efficiency, more what? …Nothing!
Add to this that, x86.64 is not capable to work without 32 libraries (and 32 repositories of course), and that, since kernel version 4.x we don’t need server-kernels or PAE-kernels, with 32 architecture, to have 4 mega Mem or more working…
Of course, the dream of developers is to release a unique version, what I perfectly understand…
But again, for home users, x86.64 brings NOTHING, and 32 keeps a lighter system for equivalent performance.
To Colin :
Just tried x86.64 720-ISO :
No change! => Working in live mode and no graphic session in hard install.
Nouveau in question?
What is your hardware please I am unable to reproduce this issue.
Have you tried switcing to an alternate VT using alt+ctrl+F2 to get a login prompt?
Maybe then you could get some logs which would be helpful.
Thanks
I get the same with i586 .iso. That’s why it wasn’t released. I believe Colin was asking in reference to trying to help you get the x86_64 .iso to work. The only way to get better graphics support is if users with problematic hardware work with us to figure out issues. Your issue may be easy to resolve.
In fact, I was present for long on the french forum but reluctant to write in english.
But necessities are what they are and I try to make an effort to help. …Maybe because it’s Christmas …or is it because I admire what some guys are doing for us, insisting and insisting months after months.
By the way I also made an effort with Pastebin, that I refuse to use usually. This stuff is almost a bigger spy than Google and others…
