Brave browser crashes randomly. Chromium too!

@JHThacker Can you please post your stats. We see it is happening to Wayland and X11, so that’s both. So far the only hardware we are seeing is AMD Ryzen and znver1.

Big upgrade of the ROME distro today : kernel Linux 6.13.7-desktop-1omv2590 and kde 6.3.3. Mesa have been updated too. But Brave stills crash :sob:

@WilsonPhillips if it’s a znver1 Kernel problem, maybe @bero have an idea about what’s going on ?

not had brave crash issue, currently on [Version 1.76.73] KDE Radeon RX 460/560D (I run old old stuff) so maybe newer? gpu issue?

What CPU are you running?

AMD FX™-4300 Quad-Core Processor. old old old stuff lol

Still crashing for me as well.

  • OpenMandriva Lx version:
    ROME 25.03
    Linux 6.13.7-desktop-1omv2590 - znver1
  • Desktop environment (KDE, LXQT…):
    KDE Plasma 6.3.3
  • Relevant informations (hardware involved, software version, logs or output…):
    CPU AMD Ryzen 7 5700X
    GPU AMD RX 6750 XT
32 GB Corsair Vengence LPX DDR4 3200 RAM

SSD Phixero P7000 Pro 2TB NVMe

Brave is current stable version: Version 1.76.74 Chromium 134.0.6998.89 (Official Build) (64-bit)

@ddog241 are you on znver1 with that old AMD processor?

i am not. 6.13.5-desktop-1omv2590

Well, it looks like everyone with the problem is running znver1.

I am running znver1 ROME as well. I am not having this issue with Brave, but I have also not updated in quite a while. Would it be of any use for me to post my software versions and such?

Yes, please. We need some that work and some that fail, so we can narrow this down.

Brave version 1.75.181.

I am running zenver1 Rome. My Brave browser works great.

O.K., now update and see what happens.

Only if you want.

Update Brave only, or do a full update of everything?

First Brave.

Do one thing at a time, so we can track it.

It could just be Brave. If so, that would give me something to take to the Brave bug reports. I have an account there and will gladly take it to them if we can narrow it down to them, but I have my doubts.

Doesn’t seem to be a problem with Brave. I am now running version 1.76.74 and it’s very stable. No issues whatsoever. I am apprehensive to do a full OS update. I think we know what the result will be: a busted Brave.

The crashes are random. Give it a bit of time. Test it a bit.

All right, that’s perfect. I’ll give it a few days.
