Hello,
OpenMandriva Lx version: 25 Rome
Desktop environment (KDE, LXQT…): KDE
Description of the issue (screenshots if relevant):
The lastest GIMP 3.0 RC3 is not recognizing AVIF format.
All the other programs I am using still recognize the format so it might be a problem from GIMP itself. But considering the OM packages were recently fixed I wanted to ask here in case it is a problem on the OpenMandriva end.
Maybe someone knows how to find out where the problem really is?
Link to previous thread for Krita not displaying AVIF files.
That reminds me, I should have just made a new comment on the bug report. I just did that here:

**OpenMandriva version**: 25.01 Rome
**Describe the bug**: AVIF image format, w… ith codecs installed, is recognized in web browsers, but not image programs such as Gwenview, Image Viewer. gThumb, Krita, and Gimp...
**Steps to reproduce**: Install all the avif packages relevant and in the repository (see image). Try opening any .avif file with one of the mentioned programs.
**Observed behavior**: Program cannot open file
**Expected behavior**: Program opens file
**Additional comment**:
libavif-gdk-pixbuf is a package suggested by Variety wallpaper changer for AVIF support but is not available in the repository

Seems to be a OM build problem, but probably not worth fixing because it looks like they should release 3.0 soon.

This issue persists in the lastest update to the final 3.0 so I opened a bug report:

new
**OpenMandriva version**: OpenMandriva Lx 25.03 (ROME) Rolling
**Describe the … bug**: GIMP 3.0 from the OM respository does not recognize AVIF. The same program from flathub supports AVIF. I think the build from 2 versions prior worked correctly. This build and the previous one have not.
**Steps to reproduce**: Install OM GIMP package. try to open an AVIF file OR try to export another image type as .avif
**Observed behavior**: does not recognize the format
**Expected behavior**: saves and opens .avif
**Additional comment**: It would be simple to just use the flathub version but GIMP has an issue which doesn't open a proper print dialogue when installed through flatpak. The Open Mandriva version build doesn't have the flathub print bug so is preferable to use the OM package.
