Another Lunduke referral

Hello all.
As my user name suggests, I am a Linux fan and I have been distro hopping for well over 30 years. I was hooked on Linux in the old days and have watched the interest and the number of distros grow from a handful to hundreds. I settled on the Debian-based MX Linux for many years (over 10 years) but I must say that after a flawless install of ROME tonight onto a second dedicated MVNE drive, I am considering switching to OM for good. Thanks to the developers for giving us a well-polished distro that just works on my Linux boxes. Great job to all !!!

Welcome! We are happy to see you here.

Glad you came along! Enjoy the distro/forum.

Since ROME is a rolling release, make sure you update with the Welcome app and NEVER from Discover. The Welcome app also is the best way to install repos. Since you have 30 years of experience, you can update from the command line with the following. I also update flatpaks at the same time, because why not, but you can remove that if you don’t run flatpaks.

sudo dnf clean all ; dnf clean all ; sudo dnf distro-sync --refresh --allowerasing ; flatpak update

Welcome, welcome! There’s lots of Lunduke referrals here, myself included. Stick around, this is a good place.

Thanks for the info. I will update from the Welcome app or from terminal. I saw the Big Fat Warning above about needing to use distro-sync. Thanks.

Welcome.
Lunduke sure had a huge impact! I am here thanks to his video, although I wasn’t following him, I just searched “non woke Linux distro” and there he was.
And I have been watching his newer videos too.

Since I did use to watch him way back in the day, I figured he’d be woke by now.
It was a good surprise to see him be the exact opposite.
