I am sick of the flowers in OpenMandriva. Shoot me, LOL! Where did that idea come from anyway? But seriously, I think it turns people off of OpenMandriva.
I have removed many, but GRUB refuses to use “omlx-dark-denim” which I sat to be the background which I think looks REALLY GOOD for grub. What am I missing?
I am not having much luck getting rid of it. I moved the picture “omlx-denim-dark.jpg” to /boot/grub2/themes/OpenMandriva/ and edited grub.OpenMandriva then ran update-grub2:
bash-5.3$ sudo update-grub2

I’d also like to get rid of the 2 “EFI BootNext: SanDisk Cruzer Blade” entries.
It took some fiddling, but I had to take omlx-denim-dark.jpg, open it with Pinta, re-save it as background.png, overwrite the same file with the flower in /boot/grub2/themes/OpenMandriva/, and now it works. No update-grub2 needed.
This should be the background for the OpenMandriva GRUB Theme. It looks REALLY GOOD in my opinion.
I still have no idea why grub keeps picking up my USB thumb drive I installed OM from.
I actually absolutely love the flowers and the timbre and ambiance they bring to the distro, but if you don’t, I’m glad you got it situated.
As for the USB drive, is it still plugged in? I’m assuming that you removed it after installation and aren’t currently using it for something.
Sometimes these boot entries stick around and you can view and manage them via the efibootmgr command. You can run ‘sudo efibootmgr’ to see what’s in there, and ‘sudo efibootmgr -b 0003 -B’ (also for 0004) to delete these if you don’t want to see them anymore. The drive will still work later if you ever want to use it for something similar, but those won’t be there annoying you.
Two things:
The command I gave works for boot entries and not BootNext specifically, but should take care of that too upon reboot. The other is ‘sudo efibootmgr -N’ if that ends up being needed for some reason. (I’ve literally never had to use it.)
Obviously, since you’re editing boot entries on a system you’ve been curating for yourself, you want to be sure what you’re doing by researching and/or posting back here along the way (ie. output of ‘sudo efibootmgr’)so someone can help if you’re not totally comfortable.
