OK per aggiornare di nuovo ROME - Aggiornamenti di agosto

Confermo che adesso gli aggiornamenti non restituiscono errori, ma ho avuto la bruttissima sorpresa di non riuscire ad avviare la macchina dopo l’installazione degli aggiornamenti e il reboot.
Con qualsiasi modalità di avvio (anche console) e qualsiasi kernel, anche più vecchio, il sistema si ferma sulla schermata di avvio e non mi presenta il login. Può essere che il problema sia causato dal modulo Nvidia Dkms?
Forse potrei sbloccare l’avvio da Grub modificando la stringa di boot, ma non so come. Grazie per eventuali suggerimenti.

Se puoi avviare una live ed entrare nella tua home del sistema installato dovresti trovare il log degli aggiornamenti.
Pubblicalo su un sito tipo pastebin e metti il link -oppure allega il file- qui.

Intendi la schermata di plymouth?
Non appena la vedi comparire premi subito ESC. Dovresti vedere il boot testuale invece che l’animazione di plymouth.
Magari aiuta, per il primo reboot.

Ho caricato un po’ di log, spero possano tornare utili.
Attualmente premendo esc il sistema non mi mostra le operazioni di boot, ma resta fisso sulla schermata con i tulipani. Non vedo nessun login, né ho la possibilità di aprire una console tramite combinazione di tasti.

se dsync-log.txt è un file che dovevo creare io in fase di update, allora non l’ho fatto. Se invece viene creato dal sistema, avrei bisogno di sapere dove trovarlo.
In ogni caso, se apri con cat il file dnf.log.2.txt puoi vedere l’intera transizione che il sistema mi ha mostrato a schermo.
Invece nel dnf.log.1.txt sembra che qualcosa non sia andato a buon fine:

Seconda cosa:

Ultimo ma non ultimo, quello che mi preoccupa è che dici di non poter raggiungere una qualsiasi console.
Se veramente è così temo che siamo del gatto…

Fino a poco tempo fa per disabilitare plymouth, ammesso che stia lì l’intoppo, bastava aggiungere alla riga del grub
plymouth.enable=0

Con la live puoi provare ad editare il file e riavviare.

Ho ottenuto i log da una live su usb, ma avrei potuto anche prelevarli tramite Diskinternals su Windows.
Con tutta onestà non ho voglia di reinstallare il sistema, ma se proprio non ci sono altre soluzioni… pace!

Vedi prima se riesci a fare qualche progresso, tipo riuscire ad avviare una console. Con quella si può fare qualche tentativo.

Posso solo accedere da una live, ma non ho dimestichezza con chroot. Faccio prima a reinstallare il tutto.

Perfetto, grazie mille, sono riuscito ad accedere al sistema tramite chroot da una live.
Ho disinstallato il modulo dkms e i driver Nvidia e per fortuna questo è stato sufficiente per riprendere il sistema. Grazie mille del prezioso aiuto!

Esatto. Ieri non sono riuscito ad aggiornare per lo sesso problema di errore sul checksum di alcuni files.
Stamani ho riprovato (con DNFdrake, a dire il vero…) e sono riuscito ad aggiornare sia il portatile che il fisso, e finora non ho notato problemi (anzi, mi ha risolto alcuni malfunzionamenti di Gwenview che avevo segnalato tempo fa…)

Come ulteriore prova ho installato i driver Nvidia senza il modulo dkms e confermo che sono proprio loro il problema. Per qualche motivo (conflitti con il nuovo kernel?) il sistema non riesce a gestire l’ambiente grafico nemmeno a livello di console.
Quindi per ora bisogna evitare di usarli, pena essere costretti a riprendere il sistema da chiavetta usb.

Io ho aggiornato, e al riavvio si è inchiodato sul login.
Quindi ho reinstallato, aggiornato e ancora bloccato al login.
Allora ho scaricato da ABF l’ultimo snapshot, l’ho installato e tutto è filato liscio.
E ho pensato: perchè sul sito di OM ci sono i link alla prima versione di Rome, quando è impossibile da aggiornare (ormai siamo a migliaia di pacchetti) invece di esserci l’ultimo snapshot funzionante?
Semplificherebbe la vita a molti che non sanno di poterlo trovare su ABF.

La pagina di destinazione OM reindirizza l’utente a questo che reindirizza l’utente a SourceForge dove gli isos ROME sono 23.03 che è piuttosto vecchio.

I link rimandano alla directory ROME principale.
Capisco che la iso di ROME 23.03 sia piuttosto vecchia, ma è comunque il rilascio ufficiale più recente.
