I’d suggest to update with --test option before, like:
# urpmi --auto-update --test
and after, if it’s not showing any error:
# urpmi --auto-update
Ah, just another thing: most likely you will be bored by requests to accept to install pkgs with “wrong” signature.
You can skip by adding --no-verify-rpm
Ok, I shall try this sage advice. I will give some feedback anon. Hopefully this will at least stop the screen freezing. which I believe to be the nouveau driver. Do I need to add the non-free testing repo? Thanking you.
UPDATE: Back to where I started. Installed Nvidia-driver. Can only get to “Starting Network Manager script dispatcher xxx”, with blinking cursor.
But boots up without a hitch in recovery mode"
No freezing anymore. Guess that’s a positive!
UPDATE2 : Kernel just updated to :
kernel-release-desktop-4.9.1-4omv 1 1 omv 2015.0 x86_64
kernel-release-desktop-devel-4.9.1-4omv 1 1 omv 2015.0 x86_64
kernel-release-desktop-devel-latest 4.9.1 4 omv 2015.0 x86_64
kernel-release-desktop-latest 4.9.1 4 omv 2015.0 x86_64
While installing, had message,
dracut: dracut module ‘ifcfg’ depends on ‘network’, which can’t be installed
dracut: dracut module ‘cifs’ depends on ‘network’, which can’t be installed
dracut: dracut module ‘nfs’ depends on ‘network’, which can’t be installed
