Newer kernel than 4.1.18 for OpenMandriva 2014.2? [SOLVED]

kernel-release-devel-latest > kernel-release-desktop-devel-latest

Try urpmi kernel-release-desktop-devel-latest --test for test.
If everything ok, install.

urpmi kernel-release-desktop-devel-latest

Sorry for the incorrect name of the installed kernel. In fact, I meant MCC do not take
kernel-release-desktop-devel-4.6.0-0.1omv-1-1-omv2014.0.x86_64 as the one it needs to build nvidia drivers.

This package is indeed installed. See,

$ rpm -qa|grep kernel-release
kernel-release-desktop-devel-4.6.0-0.1omv-1-1-omv2014.0.x86_64
kernel-release-desktop-4.6.0-0.1omv-1-1-omv2014.0.x86_64
kernel-release-desktop-devel-latest-4.6.0-0.1-omv2014.0.x86_64
kernel-release-headers-4.6.0-0.1-omv2014.0.x86_64
kernel-release-desktop-latest-4.6.0-0.1-omv2014.0.x86_64

@adelson.oliveira How did it end up here? :slight_smile:

Since I already had the kernel packages you suggested, it did not help. I also posted a bug for this and got a workaround from TPG:

reinstall dkms to have a forced compilation of the nvidia package with the new 4.6.0 kernel.
Also make related changes at grub files.

So, now I may have nvidia working but this is just a workaround, not a solution to the problem. All new installations of the kernel will require setting “manually” the system again and again.
