If you really want difficult try to find and download Debian testing.
OpenMandriva was not that difficult to be honest
You misrepresent me and then criticize me based on that misrepresentation.
What you view as insecure behavior, I view as a natural reaction to being told, by implication, that I should have done a better job of asking for help … when I wasn’t asking for help. It was inapplicable to what I posted and, therefore, an inappropriate response. It could be argued that responding to a post with inappropriate content is not, “best faith effort”.
You re-frame my question asking about the lack of context in the welcome message so that you can make it about my behavior instead of the actual crux of the matter. And, you make it sound as though I expect the OM community to cater to me when I do not. That is water under the bridge, so to speak. It is not about me. It is about making the new user’s experience better. I certainly cannot say that there is no one else in the world that would not be discouraged or offended by being told that they screwed up their very first post and should have done better.
Yes, had I searched the forums, I would have discovered that it was a boilerplate welcome message. But, I did not search the forums because I was not looking for a solution. I had no problem for which I needed a solution. My post was simply to relate my first experience with OpenMandriva in the hope that would be helpful if the OM community cared to make new users’ experiences better.
My original post did not contain any negative criticisms except for perhaps one that could be viewed that way, “That, in my view, does not inspire confidence.” At no time did I tell you (collectively) how you should fix the issues. And at no time did I even intimate that trying out OpenMandriva was a waste of my time.
I misstated issues? How could my personal experience possibly be misstated? (Regarding #2, I provided a reference.)
Indeed, I did not give any indication that I was willing to commit any time to assist with resolving them. I was waiting to see the general tone of the responses I received and if any solutions were welcome.
It should have been obvious that I already had a solution to #1. The fix, if desired, should take less than five minutes to implement. But, as yet, no one has asked me about it.
The fix for number two might take someone about ten minutes to write the shell script to batch implement the fix; again, if it is desired that it be “fixed”. And, I’ve already given a suggestion for #3.
You imply that I have been insincere and dishonest. That is a gross misrepresentation.
I’m new here just like you, but I received the same welcome text that offended you. I saw it for what it was. It did not offend me.
You say you did not explain how to fix things, but you absolutely did. You sir, are not being truthful.
No one has misrepresented you. You came here and did this to yourself from your first post.
I could go on, but I will not. Have a good day.
It’s really just this simple. Use OpenMandriva Lx, or don’t. No one here is going to bend over backwards to accommodate you just because you use it. We don’t owe you anything. You either want to help make it better, or you want to run Ubuntu. You need to pick one and move on down the road. We have better and more productive uses of our time than to read your justifications for being an asshole.
That is not what I said. I said that I did not tell the OM community how they should fix the issues. But, yes, I did offer
suggestions.
And, I don’t know how I did anything to myself from my very first post. All I did in that was relate my personal experience. Now
I do admit that my response to the boilerplate Welcome message posted by @ben76 was less than stellar. I should have asked him
how that content was applicable to what I posted before making the false assumption that I was being chided.
Good day to you as well.

I’ve already stated that I won’t be using it.
No one here is going to bend over backwards to accommodate you just
because you use it.
I don’t expect that. But, if one person experienced negative issues, it is possible that others may as well. Take it for what
it’s worth, or don’t.
You either want to help make it better
Well I did want to.
You need to
pick one and move on down the road.
I have already made my choice, and it is not Ubuntu. And, I have already made a request that my account here be deleted or
disabled. Perhaps you’d like to help push that along somehow.
We have better and more productive uses of our time than to read your justifications for
being an asshole.
Civility. Hmmph.
OMG this leads to nowhere and starts to be boring…
We have better and more productive uses of our time than to waste it with a troll.
Ok I will disable.
Holy mackerel that was a lot of back and forth.
Please disable mine as well. Seems to be a running theme here with only ONE common denominator.
We see the common denominator.
It’s O.K. though. Not everyone will fit in.
Yes, even Lunduke has hate watchers.
