@zeroability this just didn’t seem to fit anywhere or need its own topic created. The license could be a randomly generated code that once entered into om-welcome could change the messaging to say something like “thanks for your support.”. No tracking needed, could even make the code entry completely arbitrary by having it accept any text input. The idea is not to track with actual license keys, just a sentence that sounds like a purchase rather than asking for donation. Like winrar back in the day…
Ubuntu and Debian used to offer physical media for sale of their distros (not sure if they still do)l; I still have the full collection of 8.04 discs they would offer on the site from back then. I think it would be a cool option to offer a “box set” that comes with a nice box, quality CD-ROM/DVD-ROM and/or (preferably and) a flash drive with the latest OM versions (Rock/Roam), some kind of poster, some stickers/other swag, etc and charge a reasonable price ($20-50 depending on what’s included and total cost) so people have something “collectable” but are also contributing to the organization without having to pay for any kind of license. Maybe even add in some way to get a special forum badge or something for purchasers of the box edition to flex with.
I think this discussion is worthy of its own topic in the forum.
