Well, Ben I have been watching you for a few days and you work like a madman. My hat is off to you sir. I would be happy to help here a bit. I will have to go check out the OM-Chat as well.
By the way, I am not looking for any special title or anything. I just have some spare time.
The pace is going to need to change, I need a more balanced life. I did not retire to Ecuador to sit in front of a computer all day. Plus I have to spend some time learning more Spanish. Gotta, just gotta do that and it is time consuming.
But I am, we all are, happy for all the attention and new folks. It has been worth it to what I can to help new folks for a few days.
Well, a bunch of us have shown up here and I am sure it has been an overwhelming surprise. I can’t say for the folks who saw the Lunduke YouTube video, but for those of us who hang out at Lunduke’s site, most are techy types and this seems like what we have been looking for. You may end up with some more team members as folks get settled in. I can’t make promises for anyone else though.
That would be awesome.
So far I have found that the OpenMandriva package for Ansible seems to have dependencies that can’t be resolved.
Last time I tried using Ansible was maybe a year ago. It’s a little bit like Nix in so far as you write down desired outcomes rather than the steps to get there
Hello World,
First experience with Linux was Mandrake 7.1. Feels like I’ve come home
This should be fixed already.
Just another Lunduke straggler here. I love Linux but I’m just so sick of all the hatred coming from most of the Linux communities. I was so glad hear openmandriva’s attitude toward Linux and it’s users. What a breath of fresh air. I’ll be giving your distro a whirl and would love for it to become my daily driver.
Not sure where to post this question, but are the Floorp and Ghostty packages available via your package manager?
Again, thanks for your stand in the linux community.
Hello, and welcome!
It doesn’t look like we have those in the repos yet.
You can either post in the forum here:
Or, open an Issue here and add the Package Request tag:
Mandrake was my fist linux distro in 2003 on the family computer.
+1 for the Lunduke bandwagon.
Looks like vscodium is missing as well, unless I’m not checking all the repos.
I’ve been running Floorp from their Flatpak on OpenMandriva with no issue so far. You can also run it from their 64-bit binary or portable app.
Hi everyone! Likewise.
Started my Linux journey with the almighty Mandrake. Currently running Debian on the majority of my production machines.
Replaced Fedora with OM Rock on my good old ThinkPad X220.
Well… You might be surprised to hear that Lunduke sent me here.
I just installed Rock on a VMWare Server VM.
https://abf.openmandriva.org/platforms/5.0/products/152/product_build_lists/3531
The biggest issue I have at the moment is my cursor will left and right click but not move.
I did get VMWare Tools installed, and I was hoping that would resolve my issue, but it did not.
Honestly would prefer a headless server version (hint, hint) but I’ll take what I can get.
If I could set a static IP Address, that’s really my biggest hurdle right now.
The goal is to manage this as a server via SSH.
I’m primarily a Windows user, but this is not my first time using Linux for sure.
Browsers take some time to build from source. Floorp offers a pre-built binary, if OM wants to use that version it shouldn’t be that difficult to offer it. Depends on what the devs prefer.
For testing I guess you can try this cooker server version: Show - Product cooker server baremetal x86_64 - - Openmandriva ABF
I was able to install this either directly with a rpm or via flatpak. I have it running on my Rock 5.0 instance.
