Came here from Lunduke.com

I’m from Brazil and have tried a lot of distros, but I still remember with being introduced to Linux with computer magazines that used to come with Mandrake/Mandriva/Conectiva on them. But yes, Landuke brought me here too. Because I believe that anything is better when it’s not treated as something else. Like the woke people treating Linux like a social statement, and saying they are democratic when then censor people who disagree with them. I don’t care about people’s political, sexual, religious, social views and I don’t want them to care about mine too, specially not to censor mine.

Welcome. Nobody here (or at least nobody I’m aware of) hates you or “your side”. Many of us have issues with those trying to force everyone to one side, or with excessive virtue signaling. And we’re pro-Free Speech – if someone wants to say there’s only 2 genders, that’s fine (and probably the majority opinion), if someone wants to say there’s 1000, that’s fine too. It only becomes a problem when one side starts accusing the other of being bigots/nazis/whatever. People are absolutely free to disagree and even make fun of the “other side”.

It’s funny how a lot of those who make “Diversity” one of their main key words don’t realize that diversity of opinion is part of the diversity they really should be pushing for.

I just wanted to say hello as I also was influenced by the Lunduke video. I’ve been using Linux as a daily for a little over 10 years and I’ve played around with many smaller distros, OM included, but I’ve never installed it on bare metal. I’ve been using both Rock and Rome in Gnome Boxes trying to get a feel for things. So far I am very much enjoying the experience. I have to say that I usually lean towards stability rather than bleeding edge but Rome has really impressed me thus far. I’m going to test a bit further but I’m really hoping that it is stable enough to perhaps use as a daily.

Hello all!
Lunduke’s video brought me here too. I hope to find someone knowledgeable enough to help me solve the issues I have (especially my network card) so I won’t have to go back to windows!

I joined several years ago and used Rock for at least six months until I hopped to something else. It was a good and memorable experience. Like others who are here for the first time, I recently watched Lunduke’s video. Ah HA! I said to myself. I remember that distro and its welcoming forum. Well, perhaps I should go back and grab an ISO. I happen to have a laptop in need of a new OS. What a nice synchronicity!

I avoid controversy like the plague. I just want a distro made by people who love to make a distro, and the community around it has no other agenda than the distro itself.

Also here thanks to Lunduke. Just intalled to a Lenovo ThinkPad laptop and it’s working better than Arch(no sound, no wakeup after sleeping, etc). I tried to get my Canon MF465dw printer working after installing the task-printing-canon (installs all canon drivers) but my printer still isn’t listed. sigh. Anyway, next task, install OM on my main system and get back to work on my Redot game.

Hi all, I too came from Lunduke’s youtube video. Downloaded and installed Rome on a P50 Thinkpad and everything is running fine.
Started my Nix journey in 1983 so have been around for a while. Hope I can be of some help.
It’s been many years since I’ve used an rpm based distro but I’m sure I’ll catch on soon enough.
Take care everyone and thanks for a great system.

OK, I am having trouble keeping up with my usual Welcome to all new users. What a wonderful problem.

So Welcome to all the new folks. Your suggestions and input are welcome and they do help us to do better.

A great hope is that some of you do become part of us, the OM Contributor group.

Hi from Brazil! My first Linux distro was Conectiva 4.0. After that I moved to Mandrake. I’m very happy to try this one. Right now running ROME 24.12 in VirtualBox. If everything go smooth It may be my new daily drive. Thank You to Lunduke for the tip!

Wanted to say hi also. Watched Lunduke’s video and though I’d try it out. Been using Arch, LMDE and Mint the last few years. Installed ROME and exploring the system. Seems pretty solid so far.
