“Written In Rust” is not a feature. Quoted from Lunduke
Kick my damn ass if you must but
I just must post that
BTW main distro of Landuke is OM.
He nuked all his debian machines
The comments on this video are revealing. OM got name dropped like never before on youtube. This things got legs.
I put my two cens in to the comment section there
They use dnf. You got fewer updates then on debian stable. The case is simple.
They fix real security issues not potential ones. If you need physical access to a system to execute security hole, this is not the issue that will be prioritized.
It is a slackware way of dealing with things. You got Slackware stability, Red hat’ish system structure, easiness of linux mint if you on rock. If you’re on rome you got something between debian testing or fedora. Quick semi roling distro. I use this distro for 3 weeks after 10 years on debian. I will never go back, OM is just better. Oh, Its is mainly kde distro and community is awesome
I know that all above is full of opinions and half truths. But it is impossible to not compare distros to each other and, it imposible not to seak diffrences and similarieties while describe them
Right. This is multiple videos where OM is mentioned. It’s not a huge number of new users like when it first happened, but still people are showing up. It’s great.
Get regular postings on X and it could bring more growth.
Im getting ready to introduce OM over on a larger forum called ar15.com that Ive been a member of for over a decade. Lunduke videos have already been posted over there and got a positive reception. This OS was made for some people over there and Im sure Ill get a few to at least try it out. Lets just say that they are not about the woke.
I haven’t been over there in a long time. You are right. They are not about woke.
I dont post much over there any more but I still enjoy reading as they have a great diversity of opinion, a lot of subject matter experts and somewhat fair moderation. I hope to have it out tomorrow night.
I found lunduke after a quick search for a linux distro community that does not discriminate, after seeing the article on itsfoss about debian. Which of course led me here. Pulled out the old thinkpad, flashed a USB and installed OpenMandriva. I hope this is a community I can integrate quickly with. Looking forward to contributing!
Welcome!
Welcome!
Besides my issues with the Nvidia drivers I am honestly enjoying OpenMandriva after finally getting it to be stable. First time ever trying KDE Plasma as a Mint Cinnamon user and I can say that I am really liking how the GUI is laid out. It also feels even more responsive than Cinnamon.
Once my graphics card and Wacom Cintiq finally work I will dabble a bit more with this distro to see how it is to work on my 2D and 3D art alongside other stuff like audio production, not to mention gaming. From the looks of it it won’t be that much different from my experience on Mint because all the software are installing with no issue out of the box. Timeshift is really a lifesaver for Linux I got to say and it will make me more willing to try rolling distros in the future to use the more cutting edge features like HDR and Wayland.
I hope the team gets more support from people to keep developing this distro. You deserve it honestly.
I am really glad to hear you got most of the troubles figured out. Nice work!
Welcome tio_chee_chee
Hi mate.
I also came To OM quite recently and I feel great here. I hope that will be your expirience to.
Greetings. Also here because of Lunduke. I loathe that politics has metastasized and spread to Linux but I’m appreciative there is a distro that is intentionally trying to be apolitical. Going to be experimenting in Gnome Boxes to make sure I can reproduce my current EndeavourOS desktop on OM and then I’m likely going to install as my daily driver.
Thanks! I really hope the 570 drivers will be able to fix my Nvidia issues, since I could definitely see running OpenMandriva on the regular in the near future considering some of the recent developments with Nvidia finally dedicating time into fixing Wayland support. It would be a pretty solid OS to complement my Linux Mint Cinnamon as a stable back-up by getting to learn some more about the Linux world.
Also blaming Lunduke. I’m hoping this is the distro I can run whole house. I’m just a little stuck at my first notebook install as I want to make a test Samba share before moving onto my file server but I’m held up by the typical ‘net usershare add: cannot convert name’. Hoping to get past it this time. Hits me every distro I try except Kubuntu.
@RedCardinal and @shloader , welcome to you
I also blame Lunduke.
